Dr. Fisher is fellowship trained in Mohs’ Micrographic and Reconstructive Surgery. Mohs’ is a specialized procedure for treating skin cancer that offers the best cure rate for the most common types of skin cancer – basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma in-situ. Mohs’ Micrographic Surgery is considered the gold standard for treatment of difficult tumors especially in sensitive areas, such as the lips, eyes, nose and on the face.
As of 2014, Dr. Fisher has treated 13,000 cases of skin cancer with Mohs' and Reconstrutive Surgery. Dr. Fisher's primary focus is on the detection, treatment, and prevention of skin cancer. The majority of cancers we treat with Mohs' are referred to our office from general dermatologists and primary care physicians.
Mohs’ surgery is the most precise surgical method of skin cancer treatment and relies on microscopic margin analysis of the excised sample in the lab to see if all the cancer has been removed. This procedure is followed until the edges are clean. Reconstructive surgery is typically done the same day so the patient usually has their complete skin cancer treatment all in one day. The patient only needs to return to the office for their follow up appointments.
In addition to offering Mohs’ surgery, Dr. Fisher is fellowship trained in aesthetic and laser procedures. His proficiency in this area complements and dovetails with his reconstructive work and often Mohs’ patients will benefit from laser surgery to optimize their reconstructive surgery. Our practice has five lasers to ensure a customized treatment and we also offer Botox and fillers for our patients that would benefit.
