Galen H. Fisher, M.D. and his experienced staff strive to provide excellent care and service to their patients.  Drs. Fisher’s primary focus is on the detection, treatment, and prevention of skin cancer.

Dr. Fisher is fellowship trained in Mohs’ Micrographic and Reconstructive Surgery.  As of 2017, Dr. Fisher has treated approximately 17,500 cases of Mohs’ micrographic surgery.  Mohs’ surgery is a specialized procedure for treating skin cancer that offers the highest cure rate for the two most common types of skin cancer – basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.  Mohs’ micrographic surgery is considered the gold standard for treatment of most non-melanoma skin cancers especially in sensitive areas, such as the lips, eyes, nose and on the face.

Mohs’ surgery is the most precise surgical method of skin cancer treatment and relies on microscopic margin analysis of the excised sample in the lab to see if all the cancer has been removed. This procedure is followed until the edges are clean. Reconstructive surgery is typically done the same day so the patient usually has their skin cancer treatment completed in one day.

In addition to offering Mohs’ surgery, Dr. Fisher is fellowship trained in aesthetic and laser procedures. It is sometimes the case that Mohs’ patients will benefit from laser surgery to optimize their reconstruction.
